Call (469) 885-7663 for a rapid response, day or night.
Between humid summers, sudden storms, AC condensation, and winter pipe freezes, DFW properties see plenty of hidden moisture. Once materials stay damp, mold can take hold in as little as 24–48 hours — which is why a fast, documented response matters so much in Dallas, Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, and the communities we serve.
As a Texas-licensed mold remediation company (License #RCO1728) with IICRC-certified technicians, we follow the industry’s IICRC S520 remediation standard — and because we’re full-service, we see the job through from the first inspection to putting your property back together:
Photos from New Armor Restoration mold jobs in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Containment goes up before anything is removed, so spores are not carried into the rest of the property while the work is done.
Containment first. Sealed sheeting and taped edges isolate the work area before any material comes out.
Controlled removal. Affected materials are taken out in protective equipment, inside the contained area.
After water sits. Growth spreading across a wall above cupped, water-stained hardwood.
It starts low. Water soaking into flooring wicks up the wall, so growth often shows along the baseboard first.
How quickly should mold be handled? As soon as possible. Mold can spread within 24–48 hours, so the faster the moisture source is corrected and the area contained, the smaller the damage.
Will my insurance cover mold? It depends on your policy and the cause of the water damage. We document everything to support your claim, but coverage decisions are made by your insurance carrier.
Can I stay in my home during remediation? Often yes, depending on the size and location of the affected area. We use containment and air filtration to protect the rest of your home, and advise you honestly based on your situation.
How long does mold remediation take? Small areas can be handled in a day or two; larger jobs take longer. After an on-site assessment we’ll give you a realistic timeline.
Do you also handle the water damage that caused the mold? Yes — we handle water extraction, structural drying, and the reconstruction that follows, so one accountable team sees the property through.
How much mold requires a licensed professional in Texas? Once mold contamination exceeds 25 contiguous square feet, Texas requires licensed professionals. Below that, a property owner may handle their own property. New Armor Restoration holds Texas Mold Remediation Contractor License #RCO1728.
Can the same company inspect the mold and remove it? No. Texas rules prohibit a licensee from performing both the mold assessment and the mold remediation on the same project. A licensed assessment consultant writes the protocol and performs the post-remediation assessment; a separate licensed remediation contractor does the work. The separation is what keeps the finding independent.
What is a Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation? A document signed by both the remediation contractor and the assessment consultant within 10 days of completion. It prevents an insurer from making an underwriting decision on the residential property based on that previous mold damage. Ask for it and keep it with the property records.
Does the owner exemption apply to apartments? No. A residential property owner may assess or remediate their own property without a license, but that exemption does not apply once a property has 10 or more dwelling units.
A tenant and a landlord disagree about mold. Who decides? Not either of them. Where the contamination crosses the licensing threshold, an independent licensed assessment consultant establishes what is there and what the protocol will be. We can take moisture readings and assess visible damage at no charge and tell you what the property actually shows. Legal questions about a landlord–tenant dispute belong with an attorney, not a restoration contractor.
Mold is one of the few restoration services Texas regulates by license, and most property owners never hear how the rules are built. They matter most in the situation we get called into constantly: a tenant says there is mold, an owner says there is not, and nobody has anything independent to point at.
Past 25 contiguous square feet, the state requires licensed professionals. Below that threshold a property owner can handle their own property. Above it, mold assessment and mold remediation become licensed activities under the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The company that assesses the mold is not allowed to be the company that removes it. That is a conflict-of-interest rule, and it is the part almost nobody knows. A licensed mold assessment consultant writes the protocol, and a separate licensed remediation contractor performs the work. The consultant then returns to perform the post-remediation assessment. The firm signing off at the end has no financial reason to make the job bigger, which is exactly what makes the finding independent rather than one side’s opinion.
You end up with a document. Within ten days of completion, the remediation contractor and the assessment consultant both sign a Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation. That certificate prevents an insurer from making an underwriting decision on the residential property based on that previous mold damage. If you own or manage rental property, that is the piece you want in the file.
One exemption limit owners miss: a residential property owner may assess or remediate their own property without a license — but that exemption does not apply once a property has ten or more dwelling units. Apartment and multifamily operators do not get it.
New Armor Restoration holds Texas Mold Remediation Contractor License #RCO1728. We perform the remediation side. When a project needs an assessment consultant, we will tell you so and why the two roles have to stay separate.
We are a restoration contractor, not an attorney and not an insurance decision-maker. Legal questions about a landlord–tenant dispute belong with a lawyer. What we can tell you is what the moisture readings show and what the licensing rules require. For what this work typically costs in North Texas, see our guide to mold remediation cost in DFW.
