What You Can Expect

You’ll Get Careful, Documented Service with New Armor

New Armor Restoration stands ready as your reliable partner, adept at cleaning and repairing fire damage. Our seasoned team swiftly assesses the situation, executes cleanup and initiates the restoration process to revive your property’s former glory.

Step 1: Fire Damage Assessment

Our experts will visit your home to conduct a thorough assessment, carefully inspecting the extent of the damage. This assessment is a crucial first step in understanding the scope of the restoration process.

Step 2: Pack Out & Clean-up

Our team will pack and move your belongings out of the affected area to another part of your home, or to a storage facility. We will also salvage as many of your personal items as possible, and make extra efforts to help restore all that we can.

Step 3: Removing Damaged Components

We meticulously eliminate any compromised components within your home, including flooring, that cannot be salvaged. This proactive measure ensures a clean and secure living environment for you and your loved ones.

Step 4: Evaluate the Structure

To keep you and your family safe, we check the framing and subfloors to ensure they are up to safety standards after the fire. If the framing can be saved, we treat it to remove odor and any other contaminants.

Step 5: Remove or Restore your HVAC

This step is imperative in order to guarantee the absence of harmful particles in the air that could otherwise lead to health issues.

Step 6: Renovations / Reconstruction

Whether you need to replace the flooring, paint, or do any type of renovation, our team will handle every aspect from start to finish.

Smoke residue is not one thing — and the wrong method sets it permanently

Most fire cleanup that fails fails for one reason: the residue was never identified before someone started wiping. Fires leave four distinct kinds of residue, and each one responds to a different cleaning agent, dwell time, and sequence.

Dry smoke

From fast, hot, oxygen-rich fires. The residue is dry and powdery and mostly sits on top of surfaces. It is dry-cleaned first — brushed, vacuumed with HEPA filtration, or chemically sponged — because introducing liquid too early turns loose powder into a smear that drives into the finish.

Wet smoke

From slow, smoldering, low-oxygen fires, especially ones that consumed plastics and rubber. The residue is sticky, dense, and strongly odorous. It is the hardest type to remove and the easiest to make worse: wiped with the wrong solvent, it spreads across a larger area and bonds into the surface.

Protein residue

From cooking fires. Nearly invisible — a thin amber film that coats every surface in a room, including the undersides of cabinets and the insides of light fixtures — and it carries a severe odor well out of proportion to how little you can see. Protein residue is the usual reason a kitchen smells again two weeks after it was “cleaned.” It gets missed on a visual walkthrough precisely because there is nothing obvious to look at.

Fuel oil soot

From furnace malfunctions and puff-backs. Fine, oily, and distributed through the duct system, which means the cleanable surfaces are not only the ones in the room where it happened.

Why the clock matters: soot is acidic

Soot does not sit inertly waiting to be cleaned. It is acidic, and it keeps etching for as long as it stays on a surface — discoloring metal fixtures and appliances, staining grout and natural stone, hazing glass, and permanently yellowing painted and plastic finishes. Items that are salvageable in the first few days are often replacement items a few weeks later. Order of operations beats number of passes.

Odor is a residue problem, not a fragrance problem

Deodorizing a room that still holds residue in its porous materials only masks it, and the odor returns as soon as humidity rises. Source removal comes first, sealing and odor treatment second.

Credentials behind this work

New Armor Restoration is an IICRC Certified Firm (#70143549). We are also an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm (#NAT-F296429-1), which matters on fire work in homes built before 1978 — soot cleaning and selective demolition disturb painted surfaces, and lead-safe work practices are required when they do. Our team carries 36+ years of combined restoration experience, and we document residue type, the materials affected, and the methods used so the decisions on your job are on record.

New Armor is outstanding! They came out within 30 minutes of our call due to an AC drain leak. They were the second team we called to look at our issue. They were much more thorough using thermal guns and multiple meters to measure moisture. We had an immediate confidence in their ability and recommendations. Not 35 minutes after they arrived they had fans on our area and got us all fixed up for a very fair price. Their technicians also came out to check everything and make sure we were drying properly. I cannot recommend these guys enough!

Signs You Need Fire Damage Restoration

Wondering in the wake of a fire if a fire damage restoration is needed? You might need to contact New Armor Restoration for help in reconstructing your fire-damaged home. Here are the signs that fire damage restoration in Fort Worth will be a necessity for you.

  • Unexplained Musty Odors
Lingering smoke odors are often the most common sign of fire damage. Musty or burnt smells in your house usually result from smoke and soot that has entered into walls and furniture; all around surfaces should be suspect.
  • Visible Fire Stains or Discoloration
When dark stains or discoloration appear on walls, ceilings, and floors, you know that fire and smoke have left their mark. Without the aid of a professional restoration service, these stains are hard to eliminate.
  • Peeling Paint or Warped Walls/Floors
Excessive heat from a fire can make paint peel and other materials, say wood or drywall, swell. If this looks to you like it could happen, there may be underlying damage that must be dealt with quickly.
  • Mold or Mildew Growth
An injection of fluid to suppress fire can bring on the growth of mold or mildew in the days following a fire. Time is very important if any signs are seen of mold, and it’s necessary to take away what health problems there may still be.
  • Sudden Increase in Utility Bills
A sudden jump in your electricity or water bills may indicate that fire damage has been left behind—hidden from view. If it does, the system for heating or cooling could also be damaged.
  • Damp or Soft Spots on Walls and Ceilings
If water was used in the fight against the fire, then perhaps sections of the wall or ceiling have become soft or are swelling out abnormally. To avoid further structural damage, these areas must be taken care of as soon as possible.

New Armor Restoration is a husband-and-wife, veteran-owned company — both owners are veterans, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps. We are an IICRC Certified Firm (#70143549) and an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm (#NAT-F296429-1), which matters on pre-1978 homes where fire repairs disturb painted surfaces.
